Shika 1.1.9 is out with hierarchy based assignments

We are happy to announce the release of Shika 1.1.9 which is a feature and maintenance release. We have consciously made a decision to do releases in the 1.1x series that move away from the ideal principle of semantic versioning in order to fill feature gaps in the 1.1x series before embarking on the next true major release which will be 1.2. So expect to see more feature releases in the 1.1x branch that make the extension more solid and enterprise ready.

This release introduces a new feature that has been a horizontal extension for Techjoomla but wasn't released as yet - com_hierarchy. This lets you set context specific hierarchy relations between users. The utilisation for this is mainly to set training managers for users. These 'Managers' shall be able to assign & enrol courses to users under them from the frontend with the new Assignment workflow that is also released in this version. This is also a dependency to our migration to TJ reports which will allow for features like Teacher reports and Manager reports in v1.1.10.

Besides this major feature, we have also introduced a configuration for Certificate orientation & introduced a spent time column in the attempts view on the frontend.

This extension will eventually allow all our products and any other products who integrate it to centrally manage all notifications in your Joomla site. TJ Vendor - The infrastructure extension for unified vendor management & payouts

You might have wondered at our blogs being a little silent. Well a lot has been happening behind the scenes. In the past several months our teams have been working on a host of ‘Infrastructure’ extensions that will add immense value and decrease development time for our extensions as well as custom projects.

Infrastructure extensions are like Joomla’s core com_categories. Other extensions can use it without having to recreate the wheel. The below diagram should give you just a little bit of an idea as to what all is coming !

In this blog we shall be talking about one such extension - TJ Vendor. Techjoomla today already has several extensions like Quick2Cart, JGive, JTicketing that support a multi vendor mode. Soon Shika will have the same functionality. The core of the multi vendor system that supports Vendor Management, Fees management, Payouts to name a few have been abstracted into a reusable extension.

JGive 2.0 is here with brand new UI, activity stream and much more!

When we posted about our new design first approach for jGive nEXT back in December, 2016, we received a host of emails and comments with some excellent feedback. We thank you for all the love you have shown and bring to you the first release in the nEXT series - JGive 2.0 !

The biggest features that we introduce in this release are the revamped UX, a rich activity stream and an awesome new dashboard along with php 7.1 compatibility. One key thing to remember is that this is a ‘Major’ release which breaks backward compatibility. This means that you will need to rework any html overrides you have done when you plan your upgrade. Also note that as announced we will be dropping Bootstrap 2 support in this release. This also means that if you are using our partner template - JSN Fidem, you need to wait for Joomlashine to release a new version with Bootstrap 3 before you can upgrade.

Everyone is advised to read the release note carefully before upgrading to the latest version. Read on to know more regarding the features and a detailed changelog.
