So i have been watching this product closely in hopes that the devs might keep their promises and also in hopes that it might start working. I have updated with each new release and I am still in the same place that I was on the day it was originally released.
My first issue is there is no developer documentation. If we wanted to build our own plugins for j!mailalerts we are S.O.L. The devs promised that the developer documentation would be available to us a 1 month after the initial release. I have checked the site every few days since then.... and no dev documentation, no example code, no APIs ... nothing.
Next, the the idea behind the product is a nifty idea, but I have never been able to get any of it working correctly. I have installed and configured the component. I have installed, configured and enabled the plugins and yet my results are as follows:
[NAME] - Works as intended
[SITENAME] - Works as intended
[REGNLINK] - Works as intended
[SITELINK] - Works as intended
[mailuser] - Field vanishes from email
[kuposts] - Field posts as '[kuposts]' in email
[latestusers] - Field posts as '[latestusers]' in email
[jma_latest_posts_ku] - Field vanishes from email
[jma_latestusers] - Field vanishes from email
I would have bought and used the Jomsocial Pack by now, except that I figure if the base stuff isnt working what indication do I have that the rest would be working? And why would I pay $35 (or whatever it costs) for a non working product?
Then there are the logistics issues I have. REGNLINK .... really? Why would I send a registration link in an email to a member of my site who has already registered with the site to get the email? Why would anyone even think about coding this?
and mailuser ???? If I am not mistaken when working as it should, this will tell the user their email address. Why would anyone need that? Shouldn't they already now their own email address if they are checking their email?
and why latestusers and jma_latestusers are they not the same thing?
the same for kuposts and jma_latest_posts_ku.
So now my question for the devs.... Can you get all the above working? and if you can, can you prove to us the jomsocial pack works as well? Even if I wasnt unsure of your code already there is the fact that jomsocial has updated like a bigillion times since this was released.
