jPHPList - do mapped fields work on jMailAlerts?

I mapped some fields using the jPHPList plugin and I'm wondering if these mapped fields will work in the jMailAlerts email template to generate dynamic data?

Or do the mapped fields only work when you send out emails using phpList?
