error mesage " Undefined offset: ..." trying to embed a pdf

I am trying to set up a way to upload pdfs to keep a site up to date.

I am using joomla 3.1 and Helix ii Template on local. I am using firefox in win 7- 64 bit .

In the article I have "{pdf=/localhost/joom314/images/ch9/ch9.pdf}"
