Component Setup and Configuration

In order to configure component, go to the People Suggest component in the backend. Click on 'Options' button from toolbar.

Allow user to edit Suggestion Preferences : If this is set to yes,logged in users are allowed to set their own preferences.

Match Preference Mode : Matching Preferences will be according to User Preference or Module Preferences or both.

If this is set to "Profile" : Logged in user will get the suggestions of users purely matching to his profile
If this is set to "Users Preferences" : Logged in user will get the suggestions of users purely matching to suggestion preferences he has set in frontend

[Please note that logged in user will be able to set his suggestion preferences only if Allow user to edit Suggestion Preferences is set to yes and module mode is set to intelligent profile field matching]

If this is set to "Combination" : If some or all the fields from the 'matching fileds' set in "People suggest" module, are shown in "Edit your suggestion preferences". Suppose there are 5 fields -selected in 'matching fields' set in "People suggest" module and all of these 5 fields are shown in "Edit your suggestion preferences". If user sets some value for all these 3 fields in "Edit your suggestion preferences" then he will get suggestions of the user having those 3 fields as per set in "Edit your suggestion preferences" and 2 fields matching with profile of his own.

Integration with JomSocial, Easysocial or Community Builder

In order to select integration with JomSocial, Easysocial or Community Builder, go to the People Suggest component in the backend. Click on 'People Suggest-component configuration' tab, and select social network with which you want to integrate.

Import Fields for User Preferences

Module setup and configuration

Open the People Suggest Module from the Joomla Module manager.

You will find the Basic Options panel. These parameters will help you to control the display of the suggestions in the front end.

No of Users to Show : Allows to limit suggestions to a specific number of users. Use a number that looks & fits best in your layout.
No of users to show in a row : Set number of users to show in a single row.
Module Mode : Helps you to define the way, People suggest will find the suggestions for logged in user

These are the options available in the select box. If you select

- All By Priority the module will find users in all the respective parts according to the priority. The priority is decided by our deveploers. The parts from which the suggestions will be found are

1. 1. Imported contacts from Invitex.
  2. Recommended Friends
    We have newly introduced this feature. This enables you to recommend users to your Friends. Please refer this documentation to setup. This is similar to Facebook suggest friends.
  3. Network Suggest + People You May Know
    Combines the suggestions from Network Suggest and People You May Know. It shows you a union of both.
  4. People You May Know
  5. Network Suggest

- All in Random Order the module will find from any one of the above parts in an random fashion.
- Network Suggest or People You May Know the module will behave as a single module originally for Network Suggest or People You May Know.
- Network Suggest+People You May Know the module will combine the suggestions from Network Suggest and People You May Know and display.
- Recommended Friends the module will show users which are recommended to the logged in user.
Integrate With: You can integrate the module with JomSocial and CB.
Display Name: Allows to set what name to display for the user
User Avatar: Choose if you want the avatar image of the suggested users to be shown or not.
Show users with Avatar only: Allows to select users who have the avatar image
Randomization : Randomizes the obtained suggestions in the respective parts
Integration with JBOLO!: Shows the chat with option if JBolo! is installed on the site
Load the JQuery file: If enabled loads the JQuery file. NOTE : This is in case of Network Suggest for CB
Load JQuery NoConflict line : If enabled adds the NoConflict line to the JQuery file NOTE : This is in case of Network Suggest for CB

The next Profile field Matching parameters for Jomsocial panel has parameters to configure the Profile field Matching for JomSocial

Match Fields: Allows to select which all fields of users should be used as the matching criteria. For better results select only relevant fields.
Show Matching Fields: Allows to show which all fields are matched for the suggested user
Match Making Mode: Should be enabled to avail this feature.
Select the field for Match Making: Select the field which you want to be used for the match making mode
Integration with JomSocial Native profiletype: Select if you want to integrate with JomSocial Native profiletype
Select the JomSocial Native profiletype of only: Select the profile types which you want to be considered when finding suggestions
Integration with JSPT!: Select if you want to integrate with JSPT!
Select the profiletype of only: Select the profile types which you want to be considered when finding suggestions

Logic behind matching: Logic behind matching of fields.
Match Making Mode: Should be enabled to avail this feature.
Select the field for Match Making: Select the field which you want to be used for the match making mode.
