We are very excited to announce the release of JTicketing 2.5. This release is like an iceberg with 90% of the changes being under the hood. For developers, the codebase has been moved to a consistent factory pattern and we have begun deprecating all the legacy helpers. This will mean a more standardized and manageable codebase as well as faster future releases! 

For integrators & site builder subscribers, we have introduced some powerful features that have been requested by several of you. With online payments, the checkout experience is crucial for success. In this release, the checkout experience is completely revamped in a bid to make it quick and compact. We have taken a mobile-first approach in the checkout so the entire purchase process works great in mobile as well as desktop.

In addition to this, a much-requested feature - the ability for the site admin to choose if they want to include fees in ticket prices or charge them on top has been introduced.  (Thanks Shane Cox for Sponsoring this feature!)

We are happy to release Shika 1.3.15 with lots of new features. This is our second release in a span of 15 days. As we continue to make com_api the platform of choice to add REST API support to Joomla, we added an interesting feature that makes it very easy to add Social Login to Mobile Apps based on Joomla.

JFBConnect from SourceCoast is one of the easiest to use social login tools. When a recent project called for a seamless social login across web and mobile we had to enhance com_api to natively allow JFBConnect as one of the ways to perform the login.

As we go on in our pursuit to use Joomla in never-seen-before use cases a few interesting problems came forth.

• A web-hooks implementation: Similar to how plugins can declare triggers they want to listen to, webhooks allow external applications to register URLs that can receive a JSON payload when an action happens in an application. Since there could be multiple webhooks, each webhook call is queued as a message and happens asynchronously.
• In Shika: Recalculating user progress in the background. When a new lesson is added to a course, Shika recalculates each enrolled user’s progress to take into account the newly added lesson. When there are a lot of lessons and a large number of users enrolled in the course, this recalculation cannot happen in real time. In this case, a recalculation job does this in the background once the lesson is saved.

With Shika 1.3.9, we have released a security update for Shika. In some configuration combinations, guests can get access to lessons in paid courses. We have fixed this issue in version 1.3.9. We recommend you upgrade to this release immediately.
