Is there a way to turn off the emails that are being sent to the admin when the order in a "Pending" status? I'd rather just get an email when the payment is actually completed.

Also, the Pending order seems to be created as soon as the user gets to the "Review Order" screen. This is the first screen that the user sees the total price with shipping so if they decide to cancel at this point, the Pending Order remains on their account (so if the user looks up old orders, they could have several uncompleted pending orders). The users should have the ability to delete these Pending orders if he has no intention of completing them.
