Patching your files to allow you to display tags

Title Tags makes use of Joomla 1.5's feature which allows you to override existing article layouts by placing files in your template folder. This allows to make modifications in the way an article looks without hacking core files. Every template your site uses can have it's own set of override files. So, in case you are using more than 1 template for your site, override files will be created in each of the templates your site uses. Click on the Patch/Override content files link in the Title Tags administration area to override your layout files.

When using Joomla, there are a number of places you can have the Title Tags to appear, the places are -

  1. When viewing an article in full

  2. When viewing an article on the frontpage of your site

  3. When viewing a blog layout of a category

  4. When viewing a blog layout of a section.

Title Tags attempts to create an override file for each of the above 4 views. If the files are successfully created, you will see a green tick mark against that item. If you get all green tick marks, congratulations, you can go ahead and harness the full power of Title Tags. In case you are one of the lucky few who get a red cross, do not fret either, since the page will provide you with clear instructions on how to make changes to your files manually. Once you make the changes go back to this page and you should get a green tick mark against that item.
